The 50k with 1,393m Elevation Gain
This is a full island tour with roughly 1,400 m of elevation gain, weaving through mossy forest, rugged coastal bluffs, and fast, runnable sections that keep you smiling (and sweating).
The 25k with 806m Elevation Gain
This race offers a taste of the same magic – steep climbs, lush forest, and sweeping views – perfect for anyone looking for a challenging but approachable distance.

BIB PICK UP
You are required to show a government-issued photo ID to get your race bib and a wristband – No exceptions. Passport, driver’s licence, hunting licence, etc. all work!
Pick up your bib from the registration tent in the field during the following times:
- Saturday, March 14, 2026: 6:00am until race start (8am or 10am) + Pancake Breakfast & Coffee.
You will need your wristband for food and drinks so please keep it on. Post-race food starting from 11am!
Aid Stations
Find 4 fully stocked aid station for the 50km, and 1 for the 25km. Please bring a re-useable cup/bottle with you.
In our ongoing efforts to reduce waste, our aid stations will not have disposable cups.
Pre-Race Pancakes & Finish Line BBQ
Pre-race: Enjoy some pre-race Coffee and pancakes from 6:00am.
Post-race: Warm food & delicious beer from 11am until finish line cut off time.

Entrants below the age of 18 years old require a Parent or Guardian signature on the entrance form.
Crew’s are permitted for the 50k race only – see aid station locations for where crews are permitted. There is no ATV, 4×4 or any motorized vehicle access on the mountain on race day.
Hiking poles are allowed.

Crew Access ❌ - Slade Road Station: 23km – Cutoff time: 1:30pm (5 hours 30 minutes).
Crew Access ✅ - Brewery Aid Station: 28km – Cutoff time: 2:15pm (6 hours 15 minutes).

Getting to Hornby Island

Parking
Parking will be available along the roadways near Joe King Park and at Joe King Park. Watch for No Parking signs along Central Road.
Closest Airports
Nanaimo Airport – YCD – 2 hour drive to Hornby Island
Comox Valley Airport – YYJ – 1 hour 25 minute drive to Hornby Island
Ferry Terminals
Check the BC Ferries website for sailings and reservations. You cannot reserve the ferries to Hornby Island from Vancouver Island and Denman Island.
FAQ’s
How hard is this race?
This race is tough. With a March race date, you’ll face weather which could be beautiful and sunny, or cold, windy and wet. Not to mention – there could be snow at the summit.
Keep in mind that rocks, roots and bridges will all be slick!
Who can do this race?
With the right training, almost anyone can! Entrants below the age of 18 years old require a Parent or Guardian signature on the entrance form. Do not show up for this race untrained, sick, medically at risk or injured!
Can I use hiking poles?
YES! Poles are allowed for both distances. Please be mindful on people behind you so not to hit them in the face with your poles.
